Outdoor performance takes place in Old First Church Cemetery

OLD BENNINGTON - Bennington Community Theater’s first live production this season, “Voices from the Grave,” will be performed outside on the grounds of the famed Old First Church Cemetery, on Saturday, September 25, and Saturday, October 2.
Go on a guided tour and meet the people beneath the headstones in the Old First Church Cemetery. Walking from grave to grave, attendees will meet such Bennington luminaries as Elijah Dewey, Elizabeth McCullough, and Robert Frost as they are brought to life by members of the BCT. On the list is an early pioneer woman, a Loyalist spy, a Civil War drummer, a Titanic victim, Vermont’s first socialist, and many more - all contributors to Bennington’s rich history. Their dramatic and compelling stories, told by talented local actors, will make history come alive, literally.
BCT has brought together the talents of the Bennington Historical Society, the Bennington Museum, the Bennington Center Cemetery Association, and the First Congregational Church to present this exciting community project. Researched and written by members of the historical society, the production consists of dramatic monologues performed by actors in period dress.
Tour groups of 10 visitors will depart every 40 minutes, beginning at 10 am. Tickets are $10. Those interested must preregister for a specific time. For more information and to purchase tickets go to bpacvt.org/tickets or call the box office at (802) 447-0564.
