Faculty concert, Young Artists, open rehearsal
MANCHESTER- The final performances of Taconic Music’s sixth annual summer festival will begin with their fourth faculty concert on Saturday, July 9, at 7:30 pm at the Riley Center for the Arts at Burr and Burton Academy. The concert opens with contemporary American composer Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte for String Quartet, featuring Joana Genova and Heather Braun, violins; Ariel Rudiakov, viola; and Hannah Holman, cello. Following the quartet, Taconic faculty pianist Drew Petersen performs Maurice Ravel’s ethereal Sonatine. The evening concludes with César Franck’s emotionally powerful Piano Quintet in F minor (composed in 1879), with Braun and Genova, violins; Rudiakov, viola; returning faculty member Holman, cello; and Drew Petersen, piano.
Also on Saturday, from 10:30 to noon, Taconic Music’s weekly open dress rehearsal at the Riley Center offers the public a perfect opportunity to observe the casual interaction among all the musicians as they put the finishing touches on the program.
On Monday, July 11, at 7 pm, also at the Riley Center, Taconic’s talented Chamber Music Intensive participants close out the 2022 season with their second Young Artists concert. In addition to the live performances, both Saturday’s and Monday’s concerts will be livestreamed on Taconic’s YouTube channel.
Tickets for faculty concerts are $25 for adults, free for students and children. Young Artists concerts are free with a free-will donation at the door (suggested: adults $15, students and kids free). Open dress rehearsals are free and open to the public. Masks are requested for all indoor events.
