Wellness classes to begin again
TOWNSHEND – Grace Cottage Family Health & Hospital’s community wellness classes will resume in September. All classes are free unless otherwise noted.
The Alzheimer’s caregiver support group will take place the first Thursday of every month, from 11 am to 12 pm, Heins room 1, beginning September 2. This is a facilitated group focusing on the challenges of caring for people with dementia or Alzheimer’s, led by Community Health Team member Claire Bemis, RN. To register call (802) 365-3763.
The living alone support group will take place the third Wednesday of every month, from 10:15 to 11:45 am, Heins room 1, beginning September 15. This is an informal, facilitated group focused on the challenges of living alone, led by Support and Services at Home coordinator Jessy Cudworth. Advanced tai chi will begin Wednesday, September 15, while the beginners class will begin Friday, September 17. Both will be from 9 to 10 am in the community wellness room. Classes focus on developing balance and flexibility. Classes are offered in a six-week series. They are led by certified instructor Pam Coburn. Lastly, the strong bones class will meet twice weekly, with two classes to choose from. The first will be Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5 to 6 pm, starting September 13. The second will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:30 to 11:30 am, beginning September 14. This is a popular strength and balance class for older adults. Participants generally go twice a week on a regular basis. The cost is $3 per class. Clean, soft-soled shoes are required. Register by calling (802) 365-3649.
