Historical society holds auction

NEWFANE - The Historical Society of Windham County will host an on-line auction from Friday, October 1, to Saturday, October 9, to raise funds for the upkeep of the West River Railroad Museum and grounds and the establishment of new exhibits. Over 50 items will be available, such as antique furniture and gift certificates
The West River Railroad was established in 1880. It ran from Brattleboro to South Londonderry until it was discontinued in 1936. The Newfane Depot was one of 10 on the line and had been used for different purposes through the years until the Historical Society of Windham County was given the opportunity to purchase it in 2014.
The Historical Society set about to restore the depot and make it a museum for the West River Railroad. The museum opened in 2017 and has been open every year to the public free of charge on weekends from Memorial Day to Columbus Day.
Go to the auction website www.32auctions.com/wrrr1880 to sign up, bid on items, and help the museum.
