Contest, games, haunted walkthrough at library

Participate in the jack-o’-lantern carving contest.

JACKSONVILLE - On Monday, October 31, from 5 to 7 pm, the Whitingham Free Public Library and The Deerfield Valley Lions Club will host a Halloween event, featuring a jack-o’-lantern walk and contest, trunk or treat, and haunted library.
Visit the jack-o’-lanterns glowing in front of the Whitingham Municipal Center and vote for the silliest, scariest, and strangest pumpkins. Prizes for the contest were donated to the Whitingham library from North Star Bowl, Mind Lock Escape Room, and Greenfield Garden Cinema. Free pumpkins are available by reservation at the library or bring your own. Deliver a jack-o’-lantern to the library on Saturday, October 29, from 9 am to 2 pm or Monday, October 31, 10 am to 4 pm. You do not have to be present to win.
The library will have a spooky haunted walkthrough for children, if they dare, and the Lions Club will have outdoor carnival style games.
Trunks and/or trucks are needed for our newly-added trunk or treat. Get into the spirit of the season and set up a haunting display and add tricks or treats for the kiddos.
To enter the jack-o’-lantern contest, reserve a pumpkin, and to register for the trunk or treat call (802) 368-7506.
Don’t forget to visit village businesses offering tricks or treats, also in the spirit of Halloween.
