Trio steals into hall for free show

WILMINGTON - Dave Solazzo is wanted by the authorities. His blatant disregard for traditional harmonies has offended the jazz police one too many times. He knows the rules. He has studied the traditional piano trios of Oscar Peterson, Ahmad Jamal, and Bill Evans, but time and again he has been caught shamefully partaking in unethical musical ideas. Solazzo is a notorious genre abuser with little to no respect for playing it safe.
Bassist Matthew Vacanti and drummer Bill D’Agostino have not been a positive influence on the group either.
Vacanti has been known to expose minors to questionable jazz improvisation techniques through educational clinics, and has been seen performing unauthorized styles of music for decades, offending Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Kevin Mahogany, and Giacomo Gates.
D’Agostino was born in the prison city of Auburn, NY, and got his unscrupulous start by pilfering the best licks from famous drummers such as Steve Gadd and Tony Williams. His politically incorrect placement of funky grooves and other forbidden rhythms in jazz has gotten him all but banned from most venues.
Temporarily out on parole, witness this corrupt yet compelling piano trio at a free Father’s Day jazz concert at Memorial Hall, 14 West Main Street, on Sunday, June 15, from 2 to 4 pm. Refreshments from Starfire Bakery will be available for sale.  For information contact Vacanti at mvacanti@aol.com or (315) 450-8777.
