Next Stage Arts in Putney
PUTNEY - Next Stage Arts will present a comedy show, a Balinese gamelan ensemble, and a feature documentary in the days ahead.
Stand-up comedy
On Friday, March 25, at 7:30 pm, Gordon Clark and his Vermont Comedy All Stars will return for a night of stand-up comedy, following their enormously successful show in November. Featured performers will include several contest-winning and touring comedians most often seen in the Burlington area. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
Balinese gamelan ensemble
On Saturday, March 26, at 7:30 pm, Next Stage Arts will present a concert by Balinese gamelan ensemble Gamelan Galak Tika. Led by composer Evan Ziporyn and by artistic director Gusti Komin, the group has been at the forefront of innovative, cross-cultural music for Balinese gamelan since 1993. Tickets are $18 in advance and $22 at the door.
Feature documentary with Q&A
Last, on Thursday, March 31, at 7 pm, Next Stage Arts will screen Nora Jacobson’s feature documentary “Ruth Stone’s Vast Library of the Female Mind,” followed by a Q&A with the director. The film will chronicle the acclaimed Goshen poet’s retreat to the margins of the literary world after tragedy struck, where she worked tirelessly to provide for her children and transformed her grief into poetry, using simple, startling language. Tickets are $10 in advance. For more information on the film visit www.offthegridproductions.com.
