Open studio weekend

Studios and galleries to showcase items this weekend.

BRATTLEBORO - The statewide Vermont Crafts Council’s fall Open Studio Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, October 1 and 2, will include artist studios and galleries in the Brattleboro area.
Participating sites will be open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm each day and visitors will have the chance to see demonstrations, purchase handcrafted items, talk to the professional artisans who made them, and see the environment where their creative work happens.
The tour is organized into 12 “loops” of sites to visit in one outing. During the tour, look for the yellow road signs from I-91, exit 2, and along Western Avenue as a guide to the sites in Brattleboro. Also, tourgoers can view an interactive map of the local stops on their devices and can pick up guidebooks with maps at any participating site.
Area tour stops, with their respective site numbers in the guidebook, include Chris Lann Designs, #46, located at 1420 Sunset Lake Road; Larisa Volkavichyute’s Leopard Frog Art Gallery, #47, located at 257 Marlboro Road; and Walter Slowinski’s Orchard Street Pottery, #48, located at 658 Orchard Street. Vermont Artisan Designs & Gallery, #49, located at 106 Main Street,  will serve as the tour information center.
The Vermont Crafts Council is celebrating its 30th year of organizing seasonal open studio tours throughout the state. For a complete list of all 97 participating sites as well as information to help plan an itinerary for the weekend visit vermontcrafts.com.
