Readsboro planned to replace more than 4,000 feet of village sidewalk over the next year thanks to a transportation grant. According to Readsboro officials, the last time new sidewalks were constructed in the village was 1961, and since then they had become cracked, uneven, and unsafe especially for elderly and disabled residents. The cost of the sidewalk renovation was estimated at $401,000, but thanks to the transportation grant, the town’s cost for the improvements was estimated at $80,000.
