Becca Balint, who had just won her first election as a Windham County Senator, said property tax relief and education funding were among the top concerns of her constituents. She said Vermont’s dependence on property taxes to fund education appeared to be unsustainable, and could result in deep cuts to education. Balint said consolidation of small schools wasn’t inevitable, but small districts may need to share resources. Balint currently serves as Vermont’s Representative to Congress.
