Local legislators celebrated the demise of education finance bills that would have had a tremendous impact on local schools and taxpayers.  One bill would have eliminated a state grant for small schools that would have eliminated nearly $400,000 from Rep. John Moran’s district, which included Wardsboro and Dover.  Another bill would have slashed the number of school districts from 282 to about 45, consolidated supervisory unions, and eliminated local school boards.  Rep. Ann Manwaring expressed great joy at the demise of the bills.
