Dover resident Laura Sibilia announced she would run as an independent for a house seat that was, at the time, held by Democrat John Moran, of Wardsboro. The district, which has since been redrawn, included Wardsboro, Dover, Somerset, Searsburg, a portion of Whitingham, and Readsboro. Sibilia grew up in Whitingham and graduated from Whitingham High School, lived in Readsboro, lived in Dover, and served as the executive director of the chamber of commerce, where she helped spearhead economic development in the Deerfield Valley.
