Haystack Club lift crews were load testing the Hayfever chair lift in preparation for planned operation of the ski area during the upcoming winter. Boxes lined with plastic bags were placed in chairs and filled with water to simulate skiers. Each box weighed over 200 pounds. Haystack Club, then owned by developer Bob Foisie, was later sold to Hermitage Inn owner James Barnes, who changed the name to the Hermitage Club.
