The consolidation of Wilmington and Whitingham elementary schools was the top topic at the Wilmington School District pre-Town Meeting.  Among the benefits the board touted was eligibility for substantial state aid for school renovation.  Under a state school financing law, schools that consolidated and reduced the number of school buildings could receive 50% of approved costs for renovating their remaining buildings.
