10 years ago:
Wilmington taxpayers learned that damage to municipal infrastructure from Tropical Storm Irene could cost them $1 million. Although state and federal reimbursement would pay 90% of an estimated $3 million in damage to municipal infrastructure, a bridge on Smith Road was said to be ineligible. The repair cost could top $700,000, officials said.
