10 years ago:
Wilmington Town Meeting voters passed a 1% local option tax on sales, rooms, meals, and alcohol. The tax was passed, in part, to aid in the town’s recovery from Tropical Storm Irene. Proponents also sought to use the proceeds for community and economic development projects. At the same meeting, Wilmington resident Adam Grinold, a local business owner who also served as the chamber of commerce executive director, made a motion to increase a general fund line item for grant matching funds from $10,000 to $100,000. The motion was passed unanimously .
