Construction on Wilmington’s Bank Park pergola was underway, and many local residents were surprised to see tree trunks installed as the structure’s uprights.  According to architect Joseph Cincotta, designer of the park, the trees were American elms, each cut locally.  Three of the elms were cut from trees that had grown on lot before a fire destroyed the former bank building that stood at the location.
