Wilmington officials took their plan for a public park on the site of the former bank building to the town’s development review board. Wilmington Beautification Committee Chair Lee Schindel described the tiny park as a place for people to gather, sit, relax, and look at the river. When the board questioned Schindel about security lighting, she said there might be some pedestrian safety lighting, but no bright security lights. “If someone wants to sit on the bench at midnight and neck, that’s okay with us,” she quipped.
