In 1975 , in my mid-30s, when I started my first job in social work after graduating from social work school, I was the director of a small school called the Young Parents Program for teenage pregnant girls. The high school wanted them off school grounds, so the enterprise was situated in an outbuilding of the local hospital. The hospital made admitting privileges for the obstetricians contingent on them treating these girls and delivering their babies.
