Mountain Journal: Tuning at home keeps top performance

Tuned edges aren’t indestructible. Ski a few hours  on early season hard machine-made snow and even swapping left and right skis won’t eliminate the desire for a fresh tune. While many skiers think an annual tune adequate, racers, coaches, and pros know that even a day charging hard ice can dull an edge.
“Tuning is critical,” emphasizes Jed Duke, director of product development for Blizzard Skis and a former race room director. “You lose control without a proper tune!”
