Free summer recreation program extends hours, offers breakfast

WILMINGTON - Wilmington Middle School Summer Recreation is sponsoring a free extended day program for the week of Tuesday, July 5, to Friday, July 8, at the Old School Community Center. The program will include outdoor and challenge activities along with daily Japanese drumming - Taiko - demonstrations and workshops led by a master teacher from Burlington Taiko.  
Programming will run from 9 am to 4 pm with early drop-off available at 7:45 am. Free breakfast will be served at 8:30 am and free lunch at noon. All rising sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth graders are invited to attend.
The program is directed by Jen Nilsen with assistant director Alex Hernandez, assisted by youth counselors Aspen Willard and Paige Lane. Register beforehand for this week only by calling or texting Karen Molina at (802) 829-7260.
Regular morning rec will take place from Monday, July 11, to Friday, July 29. The entire summer program is free this year for locals and visitors to the valley.
