I have been reading a book called “Suggestible You” by Erik Vance, a National Geographic publication, the aim of which is to delve into the murky world of placebos. The book explores how our expectations especially, but our beliefs as well, can shape our bodily responses to pain, disease, and everyday events. As we age and develop more and more aches, pains, and odd bodily responses, this might be something worth learning about.
