Dance school holding auditions for “Nutcracker”

BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro School of Dance is holding auditions for  “The Nutcracker,” Saturday, August 28, on 17 Elliot Street.
Auditions will be held in three groups. From noon to 1:15, dancers ages 7 to 12 will audition for roles such as the Polichinelles, party scene kids, angels, battle scene, and Act II variations. From 1:30 to 2:15 pm will be adults and parents. who will audition for party scene parents, and character roles. Finally, from 2:30 to 4 pm are auditions for ages 13 and up (intermediate or advanced and pointe). Roles for them include Waltz of the Flowers, Waltz of the Snowflakes, and featured roles.
Wear ballet attire, long hair neatly secured in a bun. Adults auditioning for the party scene should wear clothes they can move in and character shoes, if they have them. Otherwise, wear ballet slippers or socks.  
All ages 7 and up are welcome. The Brattleboro School of Dance asks all participants in “The Nutcracker” to take at least one ballet class in the fall semester. Everyone who auditions will be cast in a role.
All dancers must be fully-vaccinated. Dancers ineligible for vaccination will be asked to wear a mask at all times. Rehearsals with mixed populations will require all to be masked.
Other important information: Arrive at least 15 minutes early to fill out forms. Come with a detailed understanding of schedule from now until the final performance Sunday, December 12. Rehearsals will be held on weekends. All dancers will be required to attend all scheduled rehearsals unless there is an extreme emergency.
