BENNINGTON - Vermont History Day is a research competition for all ages that encourages students to develop critical thinking skills through project-based learning and the study of history. Bennington Museum believes that learning about the region and contextualizing its people’s shared history will help build strong connections within the community and create better future citizens.
To that end, Bennington Museum is able to offer a special prize to encourage participation in this exciting program: The Bennington Museum Southshire award. At the competition, a $250 cash prize will be awarded in recognition of an outstanding senior division - ninth to 12th grade - project created by a student or students who live in and/or attend school in the southshire of Vermont or surrounding region of Bennington County.
Students must register by Tuesday, March 8. Projects may be completed in one of five areas, either individually or as a group: paper, performance, documentary, exhibit or website. Projects are due on Tuesday, March 22. The in-person event will take place at the University of Vermont on Saturday, April 2. The Bennington Museum is here to help field any research inquiries an interested student might have.
