Governor Kunin exhibit at Vermont museum

Clothing and textiles featured at the Vermont Historical Society Museum in Montpelier.

MONTPELIER-  A Vermont governor, not a first lady, wore a gown to the inauguration for the very first time in 1985. Throughout her decades long career, former Vermont governor, Madeline Kunin, broke this and many other barriers for women in politics. A new exhibition at the Vermont History Museum explores that career and showcases the three inaugural gowns she wore in 1985, 1987, and 1989.
Gov. Kunin recently donated the gowns to the Vermont Historical Society. They are on display in the National Life Gallery at the Vermont History Museum in Montpelier through January 2021.
