Lawsuit hopes to shatter illusion of local control
“To say there’s local control, that’s the cruel illusion.”
When attorney James Valente spoke those words in Windham Superior Court Wednesday afternoon (see story on page A1), it pretty much summed up the feelings of many about how much say local towns and school districts have over their school spending, and the amount of tax dollars property owners pay in support of schools.
