Affordable housing has potential in Wilmington

A recent meeting about housing in Wilmington shared some interesting numbers that may have come as a surprise to many. As we reported a week ago, a subcommittee is looking to revise Wilmington’s zoning bylaws to modernize the process to build or upgrade housing units, especially affordable housing for year-round tenants.
What was surprising was the potential to create as many as 360 new rental units in and around the center of Wilmington. Should potential become reality, that would be a huge boost to the community in a number of ways.
