Music will blossom Saturday

Previous Red Door concert featuring The Sisters of Swing: Holly Fortner, Sue Maddern, and Eithne Eldred.

WILMINGTON-St. Mary’s in the Mountains kicks off its Red Door Concert season on Saturday, May 4, with “Spring Blossoms at the Red Door,” an afternoon of music welcoming in the season of flowers, blossoms, and warmth that brings new life to the Deerfield Valley and beyond.   With music for everyone, vocalists, instrumentals, and ensembles will offer choral, jazz, folk, Celtic, and even ‘60s music, all to benefit the Southern Vermont Therapeutic Riding Center.
The concert will feature Valley Voices, a choral ensemble directed by Sue Maddern, with performers from throughout the region.  The music will blossom from a solo, to duos, to trios, and more, growing as the program unfolds.  Performers will include Caitlin Sullivan,  Kathleen Loomis-Ward, Eithne Eldred, Wren Young, and Holly and Joe Fortner, with musicians performing vocals, and on recorder, flute, piano, guitar, and even ukulele.   Audience members will be encouraged to be part of the finales, when the ensemble joins together on a couple of numbers that everyone knows and loves.
Admission is by free-will donation, with all proceeds to benefit the Southern Vermont Therapeutic Riding Center.
The concert starts at 4 pm, and is held in the acoustically warm sanctuary at 13 East Main Street. For information visit www.smmvt.org/red-door-concerts.
