Folk music rambles in

Bob Zentz and Jeanne McDougall play a traditional Scottish folk tune, “The Skye Boat Song,” at the Capital Maritime Music Fest.

WILLIAMSVILLE- The Ramblin’ Conrad Folklife Institute will take place on Friday, October 4, through Sunday, October 6, at Williamsville Hall, 35 Dover Road. There will be a series of concerts, workshops, and meals. The Weekend Rambles series recalls the wonderful workshops of the fabled Old Dominion Folk Festivals created by the Ramblin’ Conrad’s Guitar Shop & Folklore Center in the 1970s and 1980s. Founded in 2016 by Tidewater Troubadour Bob Zentz and song historian Jeanne McDougall Zentz, PhD, the Ramblin’ Conrad Folklife Institute seeks to provide opportunities for all folk to explore the transmission of tradition among people, for people; to preserve documents, images, books, recordings, and other artifacts of folk production; and to unite people of all cultures by sharing and exploring  rich diversity while celebrating our commonality.
