Fall classes will begin soon at local jazz center

BRATTLEBORO- The Vermont Jazz Center will host a new 10-week session of classes beginning in September.  Courses include youth jazz for ages 12 through high school; Anna Patton’s Soubrette Choir; Latin Jazz Ensemble; Uke Jazz Ensemble with Ben Carr; Claire Arenius’ Blue Note Ensemble; two levels of jazz guitar ensemble with Draa Hobbs; a samba percussion ensemble led by Julian Gerstin and Ron Kelley; and two new offerings, free jazz improv ensemble with Wendy Eisenberg and jazz fusion ensemble with Franz Robert.
Join a combo or chorus and get involved with performing while being guided by one of the VJC’s professional faculty members. If you’ve never improvised, that’s no problem. There are opportunities for all, including classical musicians intrigued by jazz’s structure and improvisational opportunities.
The classes will culminate with an afternoon of performances at 2 pm on Sunday, December 8, at the Jazz Center Performance Space.
Sessions are 10 weeks long, excepting the youth jazz ensemble which meets for eight sessions; the Soubrette Choir which meets for 12 sessions; and the samba percussion ensemble which meets for six sessions.
