End the Wine & Soup Stroll on a high note

WILMINGTON- On Friday, September 20, at 7:30 pm, St. Mary’s in the Mountains will be offering its annual musical dessert as a conclusion to the Wine & Harvest Festival’s Wine & Soup Stroll.
After enjoying food, wines, and shops during the afternoon and early evening hours, visitors and neighbors are invited to join in the historic main hall at St. Mary’s for desserts and a concert of classical and choral works.
This fall’s Red Door Concert includes a wide range of singers and instrumentalists from the Deerfield Valley.  Among those who are volunteering their time and talents are Valley Voices (Sue Maddern, director), Peter Walker (organ), Deborah Canedy (vocalist), Robin Matathias (flute), Barbara Lipstadt (piano), Richard Mattern (piano), and other talented musicians.  Music will range from pieces for chorus, organ, and piano to duets for flute and piano to vocal and piano music.  The distinctive sanctuary in which the concert will be held provides a dynamic and warm place for music
Admission to the concert is by free-will donation, with all proceeds to benefit the Deerfield Valley Community Cares heating fund.  Beginning in 2004, the heating fund was founded to help people in the community with their heating expenses.  It aims to help those who, despite their best efforts, sometimes cannot make ends meet during the winter months.   It is aimed at people who normally fall between the cracks:  those who do not qualify for other types of aid, but cannot quite meet their expenses in the winter.  More information can be found at https://bestdamwalk.com.
St. Mary’s is located in a 150-year-old church, which has been refreshed to its historic look.  Its distinctive red doors inspired the name for the Red Door Concert series, now in its fourth year, which includes the annual Community Carol Sing, concerts of classical, jazz, and other styles of music, musical potpourris, and even a celebration of Vermont’s mud season.
Doors  open at 7 pm and desserts will be available. St. Mary’s in the Mountains is located at 13 East Main Street  More information is available at https://www.smmvt.org/red-door-concerts.
