Sign up now to begin training for bereavement support
BRATTLEBORO- Hospice will hold a seven-week training for bereavement volunteers, Mondays from 5 to 8 pm, March 2 to April 13. This is a chance to be trained and work as a bereavement volunteer for one of the most helpful and exciting organizations in the area. Bereavement volunteers provide emotional support and companionship to individuals grieving the death of a loved one.
Applications for the training are being accepted until February 24 or until the training group has filled. No experience needed, space is limited. Cost for the training is $40 for materials.
Following the seven-week training, volunteers are expected to commit to one hour per week spent with a bereaved individual. The training will be held at the hospice office at 191 Canal Street.
Support groups are held at the hospice office and are free of charge. Support groups provide a safe, mutually supportive environment for sharing experiences related to grieving someone’s death. Other support groups for children, teens and adults are offered several times a year.
