Shoe drive fundraiser

DOVER- The Loose Knit Group will be  conducting a shoe drive fundraiser from February 15 to April 15 to raise funds for high school students to attend a Governor’s Institutes of Vermont program during the winter or summer.
LKG will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently-worn used or new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit the local high school students. Anyone can help by donating clean, gently-worn used or new shoes. They  will accept athletic shoes, but no ski boots. Drop-off location is at the West Dover Congregational Church on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 2 pm, and  3 to 5 pm.
All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe, and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send to her son to law school.
LKG is an organization of volunteers from various churches and local residents who dedicate their time and energy for outreach programs.  All proceeds from fundraisers are distributed to various nonprofit organizations and the church.
