Route 100 MOOver route changes on November 4th

WILMINGTON- The Route 100 MOOver route will change on Monday, November 4, when the most southerly stop will be Shaw’s Market.
The bus route will end at Shaw’s southbound, but riders who have a medical appointment at the health center between the hours of 9 am and  2 pm simply need to tell the driver and they will be dropped off at the mouth of the health center driveway. The last pickup at the health center will be 3 pm.
The reasons for the route shortening are that the health center’s renovations included a new canopy that is lower than the bus height, and the number of permitted curb cuts went from two to one. These changes do not allow enough height or space to turn the bus around, even when it bypasses the canopy.
“The health center planners did nothing wrong in their site design,” said Christine Howe, MOOver general manager. “In fact, they came to us during the design phase to see if they could accommodate our 39-foot buses. There were no options, and it was not their fault.  We have not given up working out a more feasible plan in the future.”
The MOOver has been renting a stop behind the Coffee Barn since April 8, but this cannot continue according to Howe. “The site is simply too small and too congested with snowbanks and other vehicles parking there to accommodate our vehicles. We are grateful to Ken Hobson for helping us this summer.”
The Route 9 Readsboro bus will meet the Route 100 MOOver at Shaw’s for north- and southbound transfers. The Route 9 bus will stop at the mouth of the health center driveway upon request.
