MOOver drivers compete in roadeo

MOOver drivers, John Hall, Vince Rice, and Doug Lazelle participated in the sixth annual Vermont State Bus Roadeo on May 4.

WILMINGTON- Three MOOver drivers competed in the sixth annual Vermont State Bus Roadeo which was held May 4 in St. Johnsbury. Doug Lazelle, from Jacksonville, took third place out of 13 drivers who competed, representing eight of the state’s 10 transit providers.
Also representing the MOOver were Vince Rice and John Hall. They were tested in four areas: a written exam, wheelchair securement, vehicle inspection, and an on-course driving skills test. Both Rice and Hall won numerous individual skills tests. Thanks to volunteers Christine Fayette, Rebecca Gagnon, Catherine Teitgens, Ed Tarvit, Celine Merriam, Dennis, and Mary and Randy Schoonmaker.
The volunteers and competitors braved varying weather conditions and a long day to put on this fun event. The camaraderie is the key benefit, as drivers from all over the state meet, compete, and hang out for the day.
