Library hosts some upcoming events
NEWFANE- The Moore Free Library, 23 West Street, has released a schedule of upcoming events. On Saturday, February 16, from 11 am to 1 pm, state representative Emily Long (Windham-5) will be on hand to listen to constituents. As Vermont legislators don’t have local offices, this is a great way to meet elected officials without traveling to Montpelier.
On Saturday, February 16, at 1:30 pm, the inaugural meeting of the Windham County Beekeepers Club will be held. All are welcome.
On Saturday, February 23, from 11am, to 12 pm, Lynne Levine will present the end-of-winter-vacation, all-ages program “Solving Wildlife Mysteries” in which she shares some examples of scat and tracks seen in the snow at this time of year. This event is free and open to the public.
On Wednesday, February 27, at 6 pm, Emma Hanson from VT Forestry will discuss Modern Wood Heating. What stoves are best? How does wood burn? What are some good strategies for wood heat? What are pellet stoves? All these questions and more will be answered. There are several rebates currently available in Vermont for new and efficient wood and pellet stoves. This event is free and open to the public.
On Friday, March 1, at 12 pm, the library hosts its book club which will discuss “Auntie Poldi & the Sicilian Lions.” Contact Deb Barry, debsriverside@gmail.com, for more information about this event.
At 7 pm, on Friday, March 1, Alvino E. Fantini, Ph.D., director, World Learning Institutional Archives, will discuss “World Learning, A Vermont Institution with a Global Impact: Past, Present & Future.”
World Learning was originally known as The Experiment in International Living (a student exchange organization) and the School for International Training (its academic division). Fantini will review their history and development over 85-plus years, and their impact on the area and around the globe. Fantini’s presentation will be rich with historical photos detailing this exceptional institution.
This event is free and open to the public.
