Library hosting a number of events

NEWFANE- There are a number of December events planned at the Moore Free Library.
Newfane resident Dr. Blake Prescott’s new collection “Short Stories, Tall Tales, and Surprise Endings” was recently published. This is a collection of 31 short stories, liberally stirred with humor, heavily spiced with a few dozen illustrations from the author’s hand,  and variously served from bite size to full meal – from one page to  multi-chaptered  – all to satisfy a wide variety of palates.  On Saturday, December 7, Prescott will read some of these stories at noon. Light refreshments will be served. This program is free and open to the public.
Learn about the nuts and bolts of Town Meeting with attorney and former deputy secretary of state Paul Gillies, Newfane town moderator Deborah Lee Luskin, and Brookline moderator David Parker as the “Nuts & Bolts of Local Government” series continues at the Moore Free Library. December’s workshop on Town Meeting will take place on Saturday, December 7, from 3:30 to 5 pm. Free and open to the public.
On Saturday, December 14, at 10:30 am, Santa Claus makes his annual visit to the Moore Free Library. Kids of all ages are welcome and children who have been good will receive a special gift from Santa.
On Sunday, December 29, from 1 to 4 pm, Deborah Lee Luskin will provide guidance and prompts for automatic writing as part of the third annual “Writing to the Light” writers circle. Together, participants will create a safe space for those who wish to read their new words. The workshop is open to the first 25 writers to arrive at the library.
There is a weekly story time for young children at the Moore Free Library on Thursdays from 10:30 to 11 am. Geared toward children age 0-5, this is a great way for caregivers of young children to meet and socialize.
There is a weekly self-guided art group at the Moore Free Library. The  group meets Fridays from 9 am to noon. All mediums and levels of art experience welcome. Please contact Alice Freeman at drimbob45@gmail.com or (802) 365-7542 before attending. The group will not meet on Friday, December 27.
The Moore Free Library will be closed on December 24 and 25. The library is at 23 West Street. For  information call (802) 365-7948 or visit www.moorefreelibrary.org.
