July Fourth fun in Readsboro
READSBORO- The Readsboro Independence Day Committee has announced Readsboro’s annual Fourth of July Celebration on Saturday, June 29.
This family event has been successfully held for many years. The success and future of our event relies largely on donations and volunteers who give generously of their time to fundraise. A donation will help to ensure this family oriented event continues.
The committee would personally like to invite the families and friends of Readsboro to be part of this year’s parade by participating in the float competition on Saturday, June 29. This year three cash prizes of $100, $75, and $50 will be awarded. This year’s theme is “Everyday Heroes.” Candy can be thrown carefully from each float. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The silent auction table will be set up at the park for the celebration. Some of the items that the committee is interested in displaying would be hand-painted slate, crafted items, homemade items, decorative pieces, and gift certificates. New items are welcomes.
The committee would like to remind everyone that the Lions Club will be holding their famous chicken barbecue dinner at the Lions Park on June 29. Tickets for the chicken dinner are $12.
After the parade, at the Lions Park there will be events for the kids, such as the horseshoe tournament, the line dancing performance, and other events. Atlas will be doing the fireworks again this year at the Readsboro ballfield at 9 pm. Entry is $5 a car.
There will also be a 50/50 cash raffle, $1 each or six for $5. The winner will receive 50% of the amount received for all tickets and 50% will benefit the 2019 Fourth of July Celebration.
