History of Harriman

JACKSONVILLE- On Wednesday, October 16, at 7 pm at the Whitingham Municipal Center, the Whitingham and Halifax historical societies invite all to a program by Matt Cole, of Great River Hydro, on the history of the Harriman Dam and Reservoir, also known as Lake Whitingham.
Cole will be showing slides on the history of the Harriman Dam, which was the largest earthen dam in the world when it was built in the 1920s. The history of the dam slide collection was gathered by Bob Coombs.  Coombs’ notes identify most of the slides,  and the audience can help  identify the slides that are not marked.
Information about joining and supporting the historical societies will be available.  Refreshments will be served.
