Health care workshop for advance directive

BENNINGTON- There will be an advance directives for health care workshop on  Wednesday, September 12, from 1 to 3 pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Bennington, 108 School Street.
This workshop is presented by Merry Postemski, of  Disability Rights VT, in conjunction with the Center For Independent Living.
Participants will learn how to have a voice in medical decisions when feeling like they can’t express themselves. Participants will also learn how to inform health care workers and family about what services are preferred in the event of becoming unconscious, incapacitated or in mental health crisis.
Begin the process of writing the directives and receive resources for completing them. These workshops are designed to honor people with disabilities. Participation is also open to their caregivers and allies. Events are free, but registration is required to ensure enough materials and seating. These are scent- and chemical-free events.
