Halifax School gets closer to goals
HALIFAX- Big Y Corporation has provided Halifax School with a gift that will keep on giving for years to come. Through Big Y’s annual Holiday Wish Sweepstakes, Halifax School was granted a $3,500 donation to put toward their food waste recycling goal.
The school is trying its best to go green. A small committee, headed by Taralee Lane, will investigate the most practical and efficient manner to recycle the food waste from the kitchen and lunch room. Collection receptacles will be made for the lunch area, and composting bins and cones will be installed on the grounds. The school hopes to recycle all types of kitchen waste and use the composting for perennial beds. The goal is to recycle all food waste and to spread the gift to the community by offering families compost for their own gardens in the near future.
