Cooking with maple contest

WHITINGHAM- On Saturday, March 23, from 1 to 3 pm, there will be a cooking with maple contest at Twin Valley Middle High School, 4299 Route 100.
The contest is open to cooks of any age. This event is part of the 21st annual Maple Festival that takes place Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24.
Categories for the contest include sweets and treats; main dishes; and miscellaneous. Dishes will be judged on creativity, appearance, and taste. Cash prizes will be awarded at 3:30 pm for first, second, and third place in each category. The best of contest grand prize winner will take home a Sawyer-Bentwood rocking chair.
During the festival sugar makers open the doors of their sugar houses so that residents, visitors, and guests will gain a better understanding and appreciation for “the art and science” of maple syrup and sugar making and the historical importance of “sugaring” to our town.
