A blessing of the animals at St. Mary’s

WILMINGTON- Saint  Mary’s in the Mountains invites all to join in the “Blessing of the Animals” service, being held on Sunday, October 6, at 10 am, at 13 East Main Street. The congregation of  St. Mary’s is celebrating St. Francis Day by inviting all to come to the service, and bring along their four-footed, two-footed, furred, finned, feathered or other animal family members and companions.  They will celebrate all of God’s creation in words and song.
Participants are invited to bring their pets, a photo of a pet (whether alive or departed), or a stuffed animal representing a loved animal, to be blessed during the service.   Special music will be part of the service.   A special collection will be made during the service for the Windham County Humane Society.  For over 50 years, they have worked to ensure the safety and well-being of animals and enhance the relationship between individuals and pets through adoption, education, advocacy, compassion, and promotion of animal welfare.
Dogs, cats, reptiles, horses, fish, birds, and other animals are an important part of many  homes, and everyone is a steward of the natural world.   For more information visit www.smmvt.org.
