Town Of Whitingham
NOTICE OF VACANCY
February 7, 2024

In accordance with 24 V.S.A. § 961(a), the Selectboard of the Town of Whitingham hereby gives notice of a vacancy created by resignation on the Cemetery Commission effective January 30, 2024.

The Selectboard, pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 963, will consider an appointment to fill the vacancy at its meeting on March 6, 2024.  Interested persons should send a letter or email to the Selectboard by March 6, 2024 (see address information below).  The person appointed will serve until a town election is had.   


CITIZENS’ RIGHT TO PETITION FOR VOTE

Titles 17 V.S.A. § 2643 and 24 V.S.A. § 963 grant citizens the right to petition for a vote to replace the Selectboard’s appointee at a special Town Meeting.  If a special Town Meeting is called, the newly elected town officer will remain in office for the balance of the unexpired term.  If a special Town Meeting is not called, the Selectboard’s appointee will remain in office until the next annual Town Meeting.   

To exercise this right, citizens must present a petition calling for an election for this office signed by five percent of the legal voters of the Town to the Town Clerk prior to the next annual Town Meeting.

Town Of Halifax
LEGAL NOTICE

The Selectboard of the Town of Halifax hereby provides notice to the community that it intends to sign a Quit Claim Deed to Jason and Tarah Perna conveying the following described premises:

1) Being lands and premises consisting of 0.5 +/- acres located at 149 Wheeler Road (Halifax Tax Parcel number WLR.149) as conveyed by Tax Collector’s Deed to the Town of Halifax dated July 19, 2023 and recorded at Book 70, page 512 of the Halifax, Vermont Land Records; and therein described as being all of the lands conveyed to Dafne Gutierrez-Hohl, Tracey T. Hohl and Edward H. Hohl, Jr. by Decree of Distribution dated October 10, 2000 and recorded at Book 45, page 282 of the Halifax, Vermont Land Records; the 1/3 interest of Dafne Gutierrez-Hohl having been conveyed to Tracey Lynn Hohl and Edward H. Hohl, Jr. by Warranty Deed February 8, 2001 and recorded in Book 46, Page 136 of the Halifax, Vermont Land Records.

Being all and the same lands conveyed to the Town of Halifax by Tax Collector’s deed dated July 19, 2023 and recorded July 19, 2023 in Book 70, Page 512 of the Halifax, Vermont Land Records.

This parcel was deeded to the Town of Halifax by Tax Collector’s Deed.

The premises shall be sold for $35,000 to Jason and Tarah Perna, of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, the high bidders pursuant to a request for sealed bids issued by the Town.

These deeds are being given in order to return these parcels of land purchased by the Town of Halifax at a delinquent tax sale to the tax rolls.

This conveyance shall take place at least thirty (30) days subsequent to the date of this publication unless a petition signed by five percent of the legal voters of the municipality objecting to the proposed conveyance is presented to the town clerk.

This notice is being posted and published within the municipality pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 1061(a)(1).
