Bone Builders ready to welcome new members

Faith Schuster
DEERFIELD VALLEY- Faith Schuster has been taking Bone Builders classes for about 20 years. For several of those years she was also a leader in Wilmington and Dover. In the years since she started, she has broken both legs skiing and broke her pelvis falling in her garage. She had a speedy recovery from those breaks and attributes that to Bone Builders.
In December, Schuster was having some swelling in her legs and felt a little unsteady walking. Her doctor referred her to a physical therapist who tested her on a variety of exercises. They were the same exercises they do in Bone Builders. The PT told Schuster to keep doing Bone Builders. Schuster responded that at 91 years old, it was great to hear that she is strong.
The benefits of Bone Builders are not just physical. Schuster says that the groups become friends and everyone looks out for everyone else. She lives on her own and appreciates getting friendly calls from her Bone Builders classmates. Schuster thinks the classes are so great because they’re not too long, the exercises are pretty simple and everyone can do them at their own level and it’s not competitive, it’s supportive.
The local Dover Bone Builders group meets at the Dover Town Hall on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10 am. The group is always ready to add new members and all are welcome.
