Chamber fireworks at Mount Snow Saturday

DOVER - The Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the annual Independence Day fireworks show at Mount Snow resort on Saturday, July 3, rain date July 4. The fireworks will begin at approximately 9:15 pm.
Visitors are encouraged to stay in or close to their vehicles, and to bring their own refreshments. Considering the social restrictions and economic hardships of the past 16 months, the chamber’s board of directors is grateful and excited for the opportunity to resume this event.
Planning for the fireworks show began in February, when social gatherings were still restricted. In an effort to ensure that they would be able to take place, the board of directors made the decision to move the venue from Hayford Field in Wilmington to the Mount Snow parking lots.
At the time of this decision, the state of emergency and social restrictions made it infeasible for the fireworks to take place at Hayford Field with the usual concessions and activities. The resort’s parking lots provided the only safe, local environment for visitors to celebrate the annual holiday and enjoy a fantastic fireworks show. While Gov. Phil Scott recently lifted the state of emergency, it is logistically not possible for the chamber to switch the venue back to Wilmington and include its usual concessions and activities on such short notice. Logistics, safety considerations, transportation, and the permitting process for the fireworks show take several months of dedicated planning.
The Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce has worked diligently to provide a high-quality and safe fireworks show for the community to enjoy, and appreciates its understanding of the circumstances.
