Explore some art
SOUTH NEWFANE- Experience the Rock River Artists Open Studio Tour on Saturday, July 21, from 10 am to 6 pm, and Sunday, July 22, from 10 am to 5 pm, in Newfane and Williamsville.
This year offers a glimpse at the new works of some of the RRA’s most established artists, and also the works of newer names on the tour including painter Steven Meyer, who joined the collaborative last year, and marquetry and inlay artist T. Breeze Verdant, who rejoins this year.
Meyer’s work in India ink on Yupo paper and Verdant’s in a swirl of recycled materials, from violin bows to shipwrecked ebony, can be seen in their studios, as can the new works of their 10 fellow tour artists who open their doors.
Returning this year will be the RRA raffle at the South Newfane Schoolhouse where visitors pick up a tour map to guide them through the rural sites and artist works. For a $1 ticket participants get a chance to win a piece by a tour artist such as a raku pot by Richard Foye or an archival print by Roger Sandes or Caryn King, among a range of others.
There will also be a barbecue on Saturday starting at 6 pm, at the Williamsville Community Hall on Dover Road, with food from Top of the Hill Grill.
