Goodbye Mangia e Beve, hello Scalia’s.
Why did Mangia e Beve close and this new spot open on South Main street? Who cares!
This new restaurant has it all. A more casual, tasteful setting with a menu that has something for everybody, keeping it simple and nicely priced. I started with the meatballs. My eyes surprisingly lit up and I said to my husband with my mouth still full “It looks like they found the family secret because this is good.” Then I had the chicken rustica.
You can always tell a good kitchen from how they make a simple roast chicken. It was perfect, moist inside with a crispy seasoned skin. The thoughts it took to put this satisfying menu together made it very clear that the owners were here to please. I thought Scalia’s was just a pizzeria, but between the appetizers, entrees and salads I realized this is food I may want to eat every day.
Unfussy and confident cooking, it replicates some of the tastes and selections that made Mangia e Beve so popular.
Scalia’s is the new kid on the block. The delightful food that comes from this kitchen will satisfy and warm your soul. That is ample reason to trek there in snow and zero-degree weather.
