TVES obtained a school habitat improvement mini-grant to create safe access to our outdoor classroom and the nature environment at our school. It was successfully completed in fall 2017.
Under the leadership of Michelle White, a parent at our school, this task was undertaken and most of the manpower provided by the Wilmington town crew.
The path was made level and crushed stone added for support of the path and surrounding area. We wish to give a big shout-out to the town crew who helped make this project a reality.
TVES children are continuing to engage in stream play, exploration in the woods, and learning that “not all classrooms have four walls.” With the addition of this newly created access it has also given everyone at our school, including our special needs children, the opportunity to join in with their peers by being able to gain access where before it required so much extra effort and support.
As in all things, but especially with this project, the involvement of so many, from parents to teachers to finally the support of the town through the work provided by the Wilmington town crew, shows that it truly is a collaborative effort whose final result will benefit so many.
