DOVER- Mount Snow must have been on the nice list this year, because the mountain woke up to 4 inches of fresh snow on Christmas morning, which quickly turned into 11 inches by the afternoon and made for some skiing that won’t soon be forgotten. With all this new snow, Mount Snow is 100% open. The New Year’s weekend is going to be one to remember, as Mount Snow has a slew of events from the Torchlight Parade and Fireworks to parties at the Snow Barn and the Grand Summit Hotel.

The fun keeps coming on Thursday, December 28, at 5:30 pm, at the Snow Barn. Come for a free magic act followed by balloon animal making by Mr. Twisty. His amazing act will keep everyone in the audience laughing and astonished the whole time. Afterward Mr. Twisty will be walking around making some awesome balloon animals for everyone. Spend the evening with the entire family at the Snow Barn with their famous pizza and a great show by Mr. Twisty. Find Mr. Twisty online at www.mrtwisty.com. The Groovy Guy will top off the fun at the Grand Summit Hotel Ballroom on Thursday night at 6:30.

Stop by the tubing hill on Friday, December 29, from 2 to 4 pm, for some free s’mores. Follow up with some live music with Mike McMann at 3 pm at the Station Tap Room. Lespecial tops off the night at the Snow Barn at 9. Lespecial consists of three childhood friends from Connecticut, now based in Boston and New York, who play off a lifetime of shared experience in their writing and performance.

In the studio, as on stage, it seems at first blush that Jon Grusauskas, delivering lyrics that call for attention and seamlessly moving from guitar to keys to samples, is handling the entire upper end of the spectrum… until the melodic embrace of rhythmatist Rory Dolan and low end wizard Luke Bemand. Tickets are available online at www.mountsnow.com/events/calendar/bud-light-concert-series---lespecial. Advance tickets start at $12. Tickets will be $15 at the door, if available. Package tickets are available for Lespecial on Friday, Kung Fu on Saturday, and Hayley Jane and the Primates on Sunday for $50. Save $12 by buying this package online, not available at the door. For more information on Lespecial visit www.lespecial.net.

On Saturday, December 30, join the on-hill Scavenger Hunt at 1:30 pm at the fireplace in the main base lodge for the first clue. Bruce Jacques will perform at Cuzzins at 3:30 pm.

The Southern Vermont Natural History Museum will make a stop in the Grand Summit Hotel Ballroom with live animals at 6:30 pm. Don’t miss a chance to meet with some live animals, artifacts, and lots of hands-on for kids and adults. Saturday ends at the Snow Barn with Kung Fu at 9 pm. Kung Fu is firmly installed in the new-funk movement. They are quickly popularizing their unique sonic contribution, blurring the line between intense electro-fusion, and blistering dance arrangements. Making fusion music “cool” again, the band draws on influences such as early Headhunters and Weather Report, and merges those ideas with a contemporary EDM-informed sensibility. Imagine ‘70s funk-fusion meets a modern dance party. Kung Fu features Tim Palmieri on guitar and vocals, Robert Somerville on tenor sax and vocals, Beau Sasser on keyboards and vocals, Chris DeAngelis on bass guitar and vocals, and Adrian Tramontano on drums and percussion. Tickets are $20 and $25. To purchase tickets in advance visit mountsnow.com or purchase them at the door if they’re available. For more information on Kung Fu visit www.kungfumusic.com.

The holiday week of fun ends on Sunday, December 31, with various activities through the day. Jeff Campbell kicks the day off at the Station Tap Room at 2 pm. Bruce Jacques will perform at Cuzzins at 3:30 pm. Don’t miss the bonfire at 4 pm at the main base lodge with some free s’mores at the top of the tubing hill. Enjoy the family camp tubing party at the Grand Summit Hotel at 4 pm.

The torchlight parade and fireworks start at 5:45 pm. The Mount Snow Ski and Snowboard School instructors will descend the Canyon ski trail in a beautiful torchlight glow. Immediately following, the sky will light up with a huge fireworks display. The best place to watch the instructors descend Canyon is between the clocktower and the Cape House.

Later that night enjoy a New Year’s Eve family dinner party at the Grand Summit Resort Hotel from 6 to 9:30 pm.
